Looks like youve made up your mind on who you are going with. If I was going to get strip then I think youve chosen well. When I was going through the decision making process once I knew there was a less intrusive way of doing the surgery (fue) I never thought twice about getting strip. There must be a very good reason why Dr Armani now after years doing strip now chooses exclusively to do fue.

Make sure after the procedure not to jump into anything to quickly. Give your body time to recover from the surgery. Give it a month before hitting the gym. Dont swim in chlorinated pools, color your hair for atleast 12 months. Better safe than sorry.

Anyway good luck with it all.

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

Baldy33, H&W are a top clinic. You should end up with a nice result.

Please make sure you understand some of the ramifications of a strip HT before you decide to go through with it. I had a strip HT with Dr. Armani in July of 2006. I have excellent results, and my scar from the strip is as thin as they come. I cannot see it even when my hair is wet, however it does bother me now knowing I have a smiley at the back of my head. My option of shaving my head at some time in the future is not there any more. If I had to change anything about my HT, it would have been the procedure. I would only consider FUE now.

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

I had 2 times fuss and 1 time fue procedure. I think I can really judge the both.
Fue is easier for your body and recreation after procedure. But the first 2 times I had the strip procedure and had no problem with it. As you know, you will get a long scar but this cant be seen after your hair is grown longer again. The risk of inflammation of the wound is higher of course. But the harvesting of the donor hairs is much quicker with the strip procedure. As you get medication after the HT there is not a real big risk.
But the fue procedure is state of the art and is less stress for your body. But there is nothing you have to fear, if you are in the hands of a real good clinic.
Therefor the only thing I recommend, is, dont take the cheapest clinic, take a well-known clinic.
I can really recommend my doctor, because 3times the same clinic says everything.
RE: Done my research, but still wondering

When I had mine done, I went research crazy. Both of the doctors you mentioned are great. At the end of the day you should go with your gut feeling. That's what turned me to Armani. I just felt comfortable there. My advise is to visit the clinic and get a feel for the place; people, facility etc... put your concerns at ease by seeing everything up close. This is one of the best decisions of your life...do whatever it takes to help yourself make that decision!

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

How short do you keep your hair? I am planning on having my procedure over the summer. What is some advice you veterans can give me?[/quote]

I think the winter is the best time to have a transplant because you can conceal it easily for the weeks after with hats such as a beanie. The summer is a little tougher because you have to avoid the hard sunlight from hitting your grafts, and also it sort of sucks to be reclusive post-op when the weather is so nice. That's why I've always done them in the winter.

Also if you have never met a patient IN PERSON, please do so before you book a procedure. The clinic should be able to provide you with contacts. Once you see a HT result in person you have a much better grasp of the potential and limitations of HT's.

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

I did research for about a year and followed many results by many different docs for the whole time I was doing my research and I made my decision to go Armani hands down and I am a year post op now and super happy with my results.

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

H & W is a good HT clininc. Personally I wouldnt be going for strip. As a surgery technique fue is so much less intrusive, recovery is alot quicker and less painful. You should talk to Pat who is a moderator on here and has had both fue and strip. Many others have also but youll find Pat here.

Good luck with which ever you decide. As far as strip goes I think the guys you are thinking of are good. If you are thinking Fue then Id go with Dr Armani who these days only does fue and who does in my opinion the best hairlines in the biz.

RE: Done my research, but still wondering

I would research 6 months minimum before deciding to have it done. I am a NW4 with little to no hairline, and a thinning crown. I have narrowed my choices down to Hasson and Wong and Dr. Feller. I am thinking I need roughly 4000 grafts to get back to where I want to be.

I have all but made the decision, I guess I just have cold feet. Is there anything that could go wrong that I should be worried about?? I am just nervous.
